Genetically Altered Salmon

In the article "Fish or frankenfish? FDA weighs altered salmon" by Mary Clare Jalonick talks about the new geneticly modified salmon also known as frankenfish to some people.  It is being studied by the FDA to be the first genetically modified animal allowed to be consumed by humans.  The opposing argument is that the FDA does not have enough information and research of these fish to make a decision if it should allowed in restaurants and grocery stores.  Also some people believe that it will lead to more fish allergies but the FDA said that it will have no more allergies then the ones already found from Alaskin Salmon.  The main character Ron Stotish, is the chief executive of the Massachusetts company that created the salmon.  In Europe they are very against genetically modified foods but it is very unlikely that the salmon will escape and get across to Europe.  In my opinion I think that it is not good to have anything genetically modified.  The human race has been living for hundreds of thousands of years without it so there is no need to start creating it now.  Research has shown that the hormones used to boost the growth of the new salmon can cause young children to develope faster and begin puberty earlier.  I agree with the people saying that the FDA does not have enough information because there should be enough research to know for a fact that there will be not future harmful effects on anyone.
